Oggi, le opere di Edgar Degas sono ammirate in tutto il mondo e si trovano in numerose collezioni e musei. Il suo contributo all’arte moderna, in particolare all’impressionismo, è di inestimabile valore e il suo lavoro continua a ispirare e influenzare generazioni di artisti. La sua abilità nell’interpretare la vita quotidiana con un occhio acuto e una tecnica innovativa

lo rende uno dei più grandi artisti della storia dell’arte.

Degas era noto per la sua abilità nel catturare il movimento e la luce nelle sue opere. Utilizzava una tecnica di pennellate rapide e spontanee, spesso sperimentando con prospettive insolite e inquadrature insolite. La sua palette era vivace e audace, con colori audaci e contrastanti.

Le sue opere più celebri sono le sue ballerine, una serie di dipinti e sculture che ritraggono le giovani ballerine dell’Opéra di Parigi. Degas amava osservare le ballerine nelle prove e nei backstage, catturando la loro grazia e la fatica del loro mestiere. Questi dipinti rappresentano una delle sue più grandi contribuzioni all’arte e hanno avuto un impatto significativo sullo sviluppo dell’arte moderna.Nonostante la sua importanza nell’arte impressionista, Degas era noto per essere un solitario e spesso evitava i circoli sociali degli altri artisti. Preferiva lavorare in solitudine nel suo studio e manteneva una certa distanza dagli altri. Questa caratteristica del suo carattere contribuì a consolidare la sua reputazione di artista enigmatico e sfuggente.

On display over 100 portraits of Renato Vernizzi and Luca Vernizzi, which cross, in a sort of intergenerational dialogue between father and son, throughout the twentieth century to the present day: an exhibition full of surprises, with faces of famous people mostly belonging to the cultural and artistic world. Alongside the Parmesans Arturo Toscanini, Giorgio Torelli and Baldassarre Molossi include, for example, Giulietta Masina, Mariuccia Mandelli (Krizia), Giovanni Testori, Giuseppe Sgarbi, Umberto Veronesi, Paolo Crepet and Mario Andreose.

With the exhibition “IO TU IO. Renato Vernizzi and Luca Vernizzi: a century of portraits” Monteparma Foundation continues its activity of rediscovery and enhancement of the local artistic heritage by presenting, in a sort of intergenerational dialogue that spans the twentieth century to the present day, the portraits of the illustrious painter of Parmesan origins Renato Vernizzi next to those of his son Luca, an artist who has been able to grow in the family tradition while maintaining a strong expressive originality.

The protagonists of this exhibition, curated by Angelo Crespi and Carla Dini, are, together with the two painters, also the many characters who populate their intense works. In addition to the members of the family, there are, in fact, many well-known faces of the cultural and artistic world, some of them strongly linked to Parma, which make this proposal particularly captivating: Arturo Toscanini, Giorgio Torelli, Baldassarre Molossi, Giulietta Masina, Mariuccia Mandelli (Krizia), Giovanni Testori, Giuseppe Sgarbi, Umberto Veronesi, Paolo Crepet and Mario Andreose are just some of the famous names on display.

The exhibition, consisting of a hundred works, from the art collection of the Monteparma Foundation and private collectors, allows you to reconstruct the highlights of the artistic production of Renato Vernizzi and Luca Vernizzi, presenting the works of the two painters along autonomous paths but also in an interesting section dedicated to comparisons, the discovery of assonances and differences that characterize their research.
